Day 2: A Royal Reception for Dominic + Annie

As a Thailand wedding planner, a question our couples often ask us is: “How will we be able to tell which venue feels right?”
seeing is believing, especially when it comes to finding the right venue for your dream destination wedding.

The moment you step into The Dhara Dhevi’s luxurious 60-acres estate, you will know why it is undoubtedly one of Chiang Mai’s best five star resorts to host a destination wedding. Taking inspiration from the palaces of Mandalay, the architecture and design features a marriage of the finest masterpieces from Thai, Burmese and Laotian history.

WHERE EXCEPTIONAL LANDSCAPE MEETS NORTHERN CHARM…

After a breathtaking Day 1 held amongst the panoramic views of mountains and flower gardens, keep reading to find out the next part of Dominic and Annie’s story.

Day 2 transported the bridal couple and their guests back to a long-lost age... a romantic and legendary “city within a city” where ancient colonial mansions and Lanna-style villas are set beside picturesque views of lush rice paddy fields whispering tales of a typical Lanna life.

THE CEREMONY

Although their colour palette was a classic white and green colour theme, we took an imaginative spin by adding in intentional details throughout the space.

For example, locally sourced Namwa bananas and banana blossoms (หัวปลี, hua plee) were artfully arranged into the large centrepiece at the guests' entrance.

The lush floral backdrop comprised of elegant white Phalaenopsis orchids and lotus flowers contrasted against layers of majestic banana leaves, with strings of little white Dendrobium orchids draping all around.

Additionally, ivory white fringed parasols provided both shade and stature in the enchanting garden set up.

To set the mood for the ceremony, a quartet played Dominic and Annie’s favourite melodies from Studio Ghibli, something that was sentimental to the both of them.

Watching as they recite their heartfelt vows to each other was a testament that a love story told with intention creates something truly extraordinary.

But wait – there’s more!

THE RECEPTION

For the reception dinner, Dominic and Annie opted for a "caterpillar" table arrangement. In our experience as a wedding coordinator, this innovative approach where rounds are uniquely arranged in a long table style helps to create a sense of community and togetherness.

For our bride’s love for all things ribbons and bows, we added oversized satin bows to their reception and cake table, with strings of faux pearls to elevate the entire ambiance.

The use of green apples and muscat grapes brought a fresh perspective to the tablescape, acting as both focal points and talking points of the floral decorations.

Instead of the traditional wedding cake cutting, Dominic and Annie chose to sprinkle icing sugar over a towering cake carefully constructed with Madeleines, the famous scalloped-shaped treat that’s history started at the palace of Versailles. Talk about a regal affair!

And as if that is not enough, the entertainment planned at various intervals throughout dinner made for an epic night with dazzling vibes and memories to last a lifetime!

Furthermore, as part of our wedding planning services, traditional Thai music and dance performances were brought in to showcase the region’s beautiful heritage to their visiting guests.

Later, a DJ played tracks from a playlist customised especially for the couple. But to make it extra special, the DJ turned on Laotian music for Annie’s family, and got the dance floor really busy!

WHATEVER YOU ENVISION, WE MAKE IT REAL.

Until late last year, the hotel was closed for a long time citing upgrading and restoration works. Marry & More had the delightful privilege of being the first wedding organiser to use the space again. It was so special to be a part of the rebirth of this magical place with Dominic and Annie's iconic destination wedding.
